Introduction to Critical Thinking
Course Description:
This microcredential will teach learners how to navigate an increasingly complex and sometimes unreal world of populism, partisanship, and post-truth. Learners will use the classical scientific method to practice critical thinking and problem-solving approaches. Analyzing real-world situations, learners will construct an argument and assess the strength of evidence. Examining research methods and exploring information literacy will support learners in deciphering misinformation. Other microcredential topics include inductive/deductive reasoning, confirmation bias, falsifiability, Socratic reasoning, and the role of technology in communication. Assessment for this microcredential uses real-life scenarios where learners utilize their critical thinking skills to decipher reliability and trustworthiness of sources.
